Coming on the heels of his first US Junior Amateur title, Tiger Woods, 16, made his first appearance on the PGA Tour at the Nissan Los Angeles Open.
A high-school sophomore, Woods was the youngest golfer to ever play in a PGA Tour event, missing the cut with rounds of 72-75. Woods would win his second Junior Amateur later that summer and claim four more USGA titles, a third consecutive Junior and three straight US Amateurs, before turning professional in 1996.
