It was Jones’s second US Amateur title, the first coming the year before. He would claim three more US Amateur titles (1927, 1928, 1930) in addition to his four US Open championships (1923, 1926, 1929, 1930).
In 1930, Jones achieved the Grand Slam by winning the US Amateur and The Amateur Championship (British Amateur), along with The Open Championship and the US Open.
