Jack Nicklaus claims fourth and final US Open title

Triumphing by two shots over Isao Aoki, Jack Nicklaus claimed his fourth US Open title on this day in 1980, setting a new championship scoring record of 272 (63-71-70-68) in the process.

It was his 16th professional Major title, and also marked the first and, to date, only time a golfer has won the US Open in three different decades. Nicklaus' other US Open wins came in 1962, 1967 and 1972.
