Mickelson in court to stop 'vicious' rumours
Online Ed | 03.02.2012 | 08:02According to this article on Golf Channel, Phil Mickelson has sued a Canadian Internet service provider (ISP), seeking the identity of a customer who has posted "vicious" rumours about him.
Mickelson sued ISP Videotron S.E.N.C. in Quebec Superior Court, aiming to learn the name of a person or persons posting on Yahoo! under several accounts, according to the website Courthouse News Service.
Mickelson learned the IP address related to these usernames - effectively, the Internet code for the geography of a user - through a subpoena of Yahoo! in San Diego Superior Court."The postings suggest that plaintiff has an illegitimate child, that his wife has affairs and other similar vexatious statements that are absolutely untrue and, simply put, vicious," according to the complaint.

Aiken promotes charity on headwear
Online Ed |Thomas Aiken seems to be enjoying his full playing rights on the European Tour after his maiden win in Spain last year, but does seem perturbed about something happening in his home country.
“You know, I've been waiting for something worthwhile to put on my cap and what is more worthwhile than trying to help all our rhinos that have been struggling so much the last two years.”
“I got in touch with Trevor Jordan from Jordan Properties up in the Hoedspruit area and they are doing a fantastic job with Rhino Revolution. He really has taken the bull by the horns, or this case the rhino by the horns. We have got a war going on with the East and the prize is the rhino, and whether it will stay or whether it will become extinct.
“It's being valued at one million dollars a horn and so we have a serious financial problem with the fact that they have a lot of money and we don't.
“How do you fight a war when someone has more ammunition than you do, and you need to fight ,clearly.”

European Tour chiefs also wanted it in Dubai this week for their end-of-season tournament. But despite efforts by the United States Golf Association, global sports firm the International Management Group and McIlroy's representatives Horizon Sports, the Chinese won't back down.
Conor Ridge, of Horizon Sports, explained: "The trophy was shipped out in its special protective box for the Shanghai Masters but there was no one present at the course to receive it so it was taken back to the shipping agent's depot.
"We've now got the USGA involved while IMG are working on the case and our guys at Horizons are also working with IMG trying to get the trophy released from customs. We've tried to send someone to Shanghai so they can be handed the trophy in person but they're not releasing it."

Directing traffic no trouble for Norman
Online Ed |The International Presidents Cup team stopped traffic - literally - in Melbourne late on Monday night when, after having a team dinner at one of captain Greg Norman's favourite restaurants, Vlados, the team bus got stuck on the kerb as it was leaving.
According to this story on The Age website, the bus driver was attempting to do a left turn out of a side street near the restaurant in busy Bridge Road, Richmond, when it became stuck on the old guttering system. The driver wasn't sure how much damage he would do to the vehicle if he went on or backed up.
So, everyone got off the bus. The Shark saw a car coming down the street and stepped in its path, waving his arms - "He [the driver] started winding his window up thinking I must have been coming to take him on or something. I don't know," Norman said yesterday.
Eventually the bloke in the car wound down the window and the recognition factor kicked in. He backed his car into Bridge Road to allow the driver to back his bus out. Norman stood in the middle of the road stopping traffic from one direction while K J Choi took charge from the other direction.
Of the inadvertent nature of the incident, Norman said: "I thought it was a good way to bring a bit of team camaraderie together, because it was so spontaneous."
Geoff Ogilvy said: "It was hilarious, a story to tell through time."
